Residential and commercial basements are becoming increasingly popular due to a shortage of space and high land values
We have extensive experience in the design of basements, with over 100 projects in our portfolio. Our involvement is usually from the early stages of the project where we carry out feasibility design to determine the options available for the client and associated costs. We also provide Basement Impact Assessments (BIA) and Construction Method Statements (CMS) required by the Local Planning Authority.
Basements proposals often impact party walls and so it is common for Party Wall Surveyors to be appointed to deal with relevant issues under the Party Wall Act.
In these cases, we can review and sometimes we might modify designs in order to resolve the issues with the adjoining owners’ advisors. We also offer an advisory role and are appointed on behalf of the adjoining owners to look at the possible implications of the proposed adjoining basement.
Our clients are typically private home owners, design & build contractors and developers. We have relationships with a number of basement companies and regularly provide design and other support services on their projects.
